For the past few weeks the former Woolworths store in Bloxwich has been undergoing conversion work and shop fitting to turn it into a brand new BrightHouse shop, aiming to open this Saturday 27 June at 10am, with an opening “party” including face painting, balloon modelling, a music DJ and opening offers.
Local traders recently welcomed the news that the High Street landmark, which closed early this year, will now be occupied once more and the prominent 1960s building will not be left to become an eyesore like so many abandoned 'Woolies'.
The Tallygraph is now able to show a before and after view of the new store (picture, above) which is almost ready to open. The second photo was taken this morning, moments after the shop sign was fixed in place. The new shop has been completely fitted out and already has on display the numerous huge TV sets, furniture and domestic appliances which are the stock-in-trade of BrightHouse, which is the trading name of Caversham Finance Limited.
Bloxwich West Councillor Melvin Pitt has been reported in the local press as saying he was not a fan of the store because of the high interest it charges customers. BrightHouse spokesman Craig Breheny responded: “The APR at BrightHouse is 29.9 per cent, in line with your credit card. We would invite Councillor Pitt to meet with us so that he can find out more about the business.”
