On 15 August 2009, the
Bloxidge Tallygraph reported that the
Knave of Hearts pub
in Lichfield Road was open again, after closing for a short period. We were advised at the time of a rumour that the previous tenant had allegedly skipped
without paying his bills and took the fireplace with him, which we thought may be
why the shutters went up!
The
Tallygraph has since been approached by Chris Winters of 'Jumpin' Jacks', a bouncy castle hire and repair company, who has informed us that he recently took the previous tenant of the
Knave of Hearts, Mr. Rob Woodhouse, to court. Mr Woodhouse allegedly issued a cheque for £300 as part payment for equipment provided by 'Jumpin' Jacks' for
his daughter's birthday party. The cheque, we are told, failed to clear and court
action followed. The equipment provided was a surf machine, obstacle
course, and beach party bouncy castle.
According to Mr. Winters, he won the
case and judgment was granted against Mr. Rob Woodhouse by default, however
before the judgment results could be served Mr. Woodhouse apparently disappeared. The matter was reported by Mr. Winters to the police, and he states that he was eventually informed that the account from which the cheque was issued had been closed by the bank due to Mr Woodhouse "bouncing" a number of cheques. Mr. Winters believes it is likely as a result that there will be a number of other unpaid creditors.
Apparently the matter is still under investigation by the police. Mr. Winters is himself doing all he can to trace Mr Rob Woodhouse, and is concerned to prevent any other small business from experiencing such problems, hence his contact with The Bloxidge Tallygraph.
There is no suggestion that the present tenant of the Knave of Hearts or the pub owners are involved in the above matter in any way.
Anyone who may know the whereabouts of Mr. Rob Woodhouse, formerly of the
Knave of Hearts, Lichfield Road, Bloxwich, or who would like further information is welcome to contact Chris Winters either by 'phone on 07787 961908 or via his company's website:
