Alleged Bloxwich airgun pest charged

Shops in the airgun incident area (SW)

Dateline:  21 October 2009

In September an appeal for information and an offer of a reward went out from concerned Bloxwich residents and traders following attacks on people and businesses in the High Street and Church Street area by a rogue airgunner.

The first person attacked by the mystery shooter, apparently wielding a high-powered hunting rifle, suffered serious injury to his arm requiring hospital treatment. A week later, a female member of staff of a local business on her break at the rear of Salon 69 was shot at three times, the lead slugs miraculously just missing her but smashing a nearby window.  This was later exacerbated by the apparent shooting out of a car window in the High Street.

Local businesses Scoffs, Bloxwich Hardware & DIY, Bloxwich Computer Centre, Jeneve Bridal Shop, Salon 69, Copper Lawnmower Engineering, Bloxwich Fireplaces, Bloxwich Domestics, Perfect Pizza, Melbourne Veterinary Centre, Church Carpets and the residents of flats above those premises were all gravely concerned by the unprovoked attacks.

The Bloxidge Tallygraph can reveal today that a 17 year old local man has now been charged by local police with firing an air weapon beyond premises. He was due to appear before Walsall Magistrates yesterday (20 October), and the outcome will be reported by The Tallygraph as soon as further information is received.
